BY ELECTIONS
Today, on the 5th of June 2023, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has presented Mr. Oita Sam Odeke for nomination as our candidate for the Bukedea LC5 by-election. We wholeheartedly call upon the people of Bukedea District to rally behind Mr. Odeke and offer him their unwavering support.
Mr. Oita Sam Odeke is a dedicated and experienced individual who possesses a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people in Bukedea. With his remarkable track record in public service, we firmly believe that he is the right candidate to represent the district’s interests at the LC5 level.
We shall thereafter officially launch Mr. Oita Sam Odeke’s campaign for the Bukedea LC5 by-election. Let us work hand in hand to secure a brighter tomorrow for Bukedea District.
Similarly we have also nominated Mr. William Okia for Bukedea Sub – County by-election. We go into this by election, while knowing that the Junta will unleash the money, arsenal and security services in this campaign just like it has been the case in previous elections. But, our confidence is in the people of Bukedea who have always supported us in our journey to liberation.
STATE OF THE NATION ADDRESS
We have been made aware that Mr. Museveni is set to make the State of the Nation Address this week. As the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), we call upon Mr Museveni to, for once in over three decades, take the address seriously.
It is evident that Mr. Museveni has grown very old and seems to view this address as nothing more than a casual conversation with his grandchildren (Abazukulu). We urge him to recognize the gravity of the challenges facing our nation and address them with the urgency they deserve.
One of the most pressing issues that Mr. Museveni needs to tackle is the economic hardships that Ugandans are currently enduring. These hardships have become so severe that some individuals have resorted to suicide. The government must formulate a comprehensive plan to improve the welfare of all citizens.
We also call on the government to address the escalating prices of goods and services, particularly the cost of fuel that in turn affects the price of other goods and services. We propose the implementation of a regulated price for fuel and the enactment of legislation that prohibits selling fuel above the government-regulated price. This would alleviate the burden on Ugandans and protect them from unscrupulous price hikes.
We, the FDC, emphasize that the State of the Nation Address is not just an opportunity for Mr. Museveni to engage in rhetoric, but a chance to address the genuine concerns and hardships faced by the Ugandan people. We hope that he will seize this moment to make tangible commitments to improving the lives of all citizens.
In Mr Museveni’s previous address there are many promises he made which have never been fulfilled up to now, one example is the promise to improve the welfare of scientists. However, it is disheartening to note that medical interns have not been deployed for two years, and clinical officers are currently on strike. As a nation, we are in crisis.
Ugandans need to understand that the primary obstacle we face as a country is Mr. Museveni himself, along with his friends and family who lead extravagant lives at the expense of hardworking taxpayers. Together, let us stand up, resist, and create a Uganda that upholds the values of justice, equality, and freedom for all. It is time for a new era, free from the grip of Mr. Museveni and his family.
