- 19th FDC National Council Meeting Resolutions.
On 13th August 2025, the FDC held its 19th National Council meeting at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi. The meeting, chaired by the National Chairman Hon. Jack Sabiiti, discussed the party’s future direction and received a report from the Party Electoral Commission.
During the session, the National Council ratified and endorsed Rt. Hon. Nandala Mafabi as the official FDC Presidential candidate.
The Party also launched the Five-Pillar 2026 Campaign Manifesto and the official campaign portrait of the Presidential candidate, unveiled by the National Chairman.
The FDC manifesto is focusing on key areas to transform Uganda’s economy and improve citizens’ lives. Here are the key highlights:
Economic Transformation
- Agriculture: Allocate 10% of the national budget to agriculture, modernize farming through access to credit, extension services, and irrigation systems, and promote value addition and cooperative-based marketing.
- Industrialization: Establish regional industrial zones and farmer service centers to support youth employment and skill training.
- Tourism: Increase investment in marketing Uganda’s attractions, such as birding and mountain climbing.
Job Creation and Employment
- Youth Employment: Support youth employment and skill training in sectors like tourism, fisheries, and mineral development.
- Fisheries and Blue Economy: Remove military from fishing regulation, invest in aquaculture, modern fish terminals, and processing infrastructure.
Health and Education
- Healthcare: Increase health sector funding to 10% of the national budget, upgrade regional referral hospitals, and invest in public health education.
- Education: Review the competence-based curriculum, reduce classroom-to-pupil ratio, and prioritize teacher training and recruitment.
Governance and Leadership
- Fiscal Discipline: Cut extravagant government spending, prioritize high-impact infrastructure, and implement transparent resource management.
- Anti-Corruption: Fight corruption and ensure security forces are answerable to civilian authority.
Infrastructure Development
- Roads: Initiate strict procurement procedures to reduce road construction costs and increase paved roads.
- Energy: Review power purchase agreements to ensure cheaper electricity.
Our Party manifesto aims to put “Money in Our Pockets” by fixing the economy, creating jobs, and improving public services.
The Council further approved the 2026 election budget and passed a motion authorising the National Executive Committee to appoint the FDC National Taskforce for the 2026 elections.
We were joined by three women leaders who were formerly with the National Resistance Movement (NRM), they joined FDC, citing irregularities in the recent NRM primaries. They are:
- Kate Etit Okao – Kwania District
- Anna Grace Lalam – Dokolo District
- Precilline Lakota Oto – Omoro District
They were welcomed by the President on behalf of the Party.
- Home Coming Ceremony For FDC Presidential Candidate.
We intend to organize a home coming ceremony for our Presidential candidate the Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi in Bugisu at Mbale Cricket oval on 30th August 2025.
The homecoming ceremony for FDC would likely be to;
- Boost Grassroots Support: By visiting his home area such that our Presidential candidate the Hon. Mafabi can reconnect with his people and constituents, listen to their concerns, endorsement and thank them for the support they have showered him as MP as well as demonstrating his commitment to their welfare, thereby strengthening his grassroots support.
- Launch Campaign: The homecoming ceremony could serve as a platform to officially launch Mafabi’s presidential campaign in his area generating excitement and momentum for his candidacy.
- Unite Party Members: As the FDC’s presidential flag bearer, Mafabi’s homecoming could help unite party members and supporters in the region, fostering a sense of solidarity and shared purpose.
- Showcase Leadership: By engaging with his constituents, Mafabi can showcase his leadership style, vision, and policies, which could help build confidence in his ability to lead the country.
Given Hon. Mafabi’s background as a long-serving MP for Budadiri West and FDC Secretary General, his homecoming ceremony
would be a strategic move to build momentum for Mafabi’s presidential campaign and reinforce his connection with the people he aims to serve.
Thank You
Kikonyogo John
