THE FDC PRESS BRIEFING MONDAY JULY 28, 2025

THE PARTY PRESIDENTIAL FLAG BEARER 2026.

As you’re aware, the FDC Party unveiled its presidential flag bearer candidate roadmap on April 28, 2025, paving the way for the Party Electoral Commission to nominate two presidential candidates, Hon. Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, on May 7, 2025.

According to the roadmap, this process stsrted with expression of interest, nominations followed by a vetting process which all candidates fulfilled.  The candidates have moved across the country, rallying for support among delegates. The process will now culminate in a National Delegates Conference, scheduled for July 31, 2025 as earlier communicated.

Party leaders across the country have been advocating for a single candidate. A case in point was, on July 12, 2025, where Party elders and religious leaders from Teso and Bugisu sub-regions convened in Mbale City to discuss with the possibility of having a single candidate to avoid further divisions within the Party.

This initiative aims to promote internal harmony and prevent more splits, considering the Party’s history of tensions from previous internal elections.

A broader consensus-building effort is underway, starting with the FDC expanded elders meeting, featuring representatives from 21 sub-regions nationwide, set to begin tomorrow, July 29, 2025, at the Party Headquarters.

We anticipate that consensus will be reached before the National Delegates Conference on July 31, 2025 which will be chaired by the Party National Chairman the Hon. Jack Sabiiti, where the FDC Presidential candidate will be decided, and the 2025/2026 General Election budget will be approved.

Unlike other political establishments, the FDC stands out for its unwavering commitment to democracy. We’re not just advocates for democratic principles; we’re practitioners who embody and uphold them in our actions.

Our track record speaks for itself, showcasing a consistent dedication to democratic values.

The media is hereby invited to attend and cover this event on Thursday, as we consolidate democracy in the Party and the country at large.
