FDC STRUCTURE BUILDING ELECTIONS
On Thursday 12th May 2023, the FDC National Executive Committee adopted the Structure Building Roadmap 2023 and resolved to start implementing the Structure Elections Roadmap. Elections of village and Parish structures were meant to kick off on 19th June 2023. However, on 16th June 2023, National Executive Committee requested EC to adjust the roadmap for four weeks starting on 16th June 2023.
The extension was intended to allow different leaders to try to harmonize amongst themselves as elections could kick off after the four weeks. Literally, EC accepted the NEC request. These four weeks from the date of 16th June were meant to end on 14th July 2023.
As an independent FDC Electoral Commission using its constitutionally given mandate under Article 29 revised the roadmap to have Village and Parish elections start today 17th July 2023. Unfortunately, before the day came to pass, many letters went on Social Media confusing FDC members, calling for suspension while the other called members to come for elections on 17th July 2023. As Electoral Commission of the FDC, we called for an emergency EC meeting, and adjusted the roadmap which was released to the members on 15th July 2023. The detailed adjusted roadmap indicates elections of village and Parishes will take place from 21st to 23rd July 2023. (Detailed roadmap attached) and a few highlights are as below;
The party shall elect leaders starting from the village to the district then we shall hold the National Delegates Conference to elect National Executive Committee Members. We expect to hold elections in 71,230 villages, 10,595 Parishes, 2211 Sub-Counties, 353 Constituencies and 150 districts. At each level, we shall elect nine (9) members of the Youth League, nine (9) members of the Women League, and eight (8) members of the Mainstream/executive.
We call upon all our members to prepare and take up the various leadership positions as we further the struggle against the junta.
We thank you all for appreciating and standing with FDC at all times
